Zynga to shut down Japan office
Zynga, the struggling social gaming company, has announced that it will shut its Japan operation. CEO of Zynga Japan, Kenji Matsubara, confirmed the closure on social network site, Facebook.
A rough translation of the CEO’s post reads: “Zynga Japan will be shut down at the end of January, that Matsubara thanks users for playing his company’s games, and that service for popular card battle game Ayakashi will be continued.”
This is not Zynga’s first office closure, with the closure of the Boston studio announced in October along with a 5% cut in the comapny’s full-time staff.
The Japan office, originally founded in 2012 will shut down on January 31st. Decemebr saw by 11 of Zynga’s social games including Mafia Wars II and PetVille killed off.
